———————————————————————————
Trivium return with their sixth studio album “Vengeance Falls” with ten tracks filled with thundering drums, hard hitting guitars, and the return of Matt Heafy’s melodic singing. For those unaware, Trivium is a metal band formed in Orlando, Florida in 2000 and is considered one of the for-runners of modern metal. They are known for their very melodic They are composed of Guitarist/Lead Singer Matt Heafy, Guitarist Corey Beaulieu, Paolo Gregoletto, and drummer Nick Augusto.

I first got into Trivium with their album fifth In Waves, and then slowly made my way backwards through their catalog of albums and have been an on and off fan since then, so needless to say I was a tad excited to say I was a excited to hear they were working on another album. I wasn’t however excted to hear that David Draiman was to be the producer of the album. I was never really a fan of his band Disturbed because I felt that his band was a little lack luster. It turned out a little better than I expected. The album opens up with the Track “Brave this Storm.” A track that grabs your attention and builds up momentum, and it makes a great opener.

But that momentum dies in the second track, the title track, “Vengeance Falls”, a song that I felt had a good amount of potential at the beginning, but it felt restrained as it progressed. The album is similar like that for the rest of its duration. Awesome and somewhat unique intros that slowly fall into generic verses and choruses only occasionally highlighted by an excellent solo and Heafy’s screams.

Don’t get me wrong; this is a pretty good album, but just that. Pretty good. It had a lot of potential and I mean a lot, it just didn’t explore it properly.

FAV TRACKS: Brave This Storm, Strife

LEAST FAV TRACKS: Vengeance Falls, No Way to Heal

Score: (6.5/10)
