Best Friends Ep Review
Released January 26, 2015
Genre: Twee Pop, Emo
Coppell, TX trio Sad Cops deliver a catchy albeit detached combination of pop rock and reverb-laden emo. Each song on their debut contains infectious guitar and bass grooves, while the one vocalist quietly croons behind the other instruments. “Best Friends” and “Nouns” have especially lively instrumentation, shiny guitars and driving drums. While the songs are surprisingly fleshed-out for a debut, the too-quiet vocals fail to connect with receiving ears, especially on “Philly, 1985.” With just a little more oomph, these songs could soar with more impassioned vocal delivery.
